My Mission is Simple

Who I Am?

My name is Sam Shelton, and I grew up on our cattle farm in Scotland, Arkansas that has been operating since 1990. I later spent more than 15 years working inside the meat and feed industries in regulatory food safety roles. That experience gave me a front-row seat to how the food system actually works and where the disconnects exist between producers and the public.

Most of the photos you see are my own, taken on my family's land in Arkansas. If I am asking producers and families to trust what is real, it starts with me showing you mine. 

Why Indigo Agri Connections, LLC Exists?

Indigo Agri Connections, LLC began with a simple realization. Consumers are increasingly looking for food directly from farmers, but there is no practical system connecting them in a transparent and reliable way. At the same time, producers struggle to reach their communities without relying on large distribution systems and middlemen. Indigo Agri Connections, LLC was created to rebuild that bridge.

THE STORY

The name isn't decoration. It's the whole idea. Arkansas has a quiet heritage in indigo, the plant that gives the deepest, most enduring natural dye known. What most people don't know is how that color is made. When the dye is first drawn from the plant, it isn't blue at all. In the vat, and on the cloth as it first emerges, it runs green. The indigo only appears when it meets the air. Oxygen transforms it, and green becomes a blue that lasts for generations.

That transformation is the heart of what I believe. Value isn't always visible in the raw state. A small farm with no way to reach buyers. A producer doing everything right but invisible to the market. A community rich in what it grows but fragmented in how it connects. The potential is real. It just hasn't met the right conditions yet.

IAC exists to create those conditions.

Indigo is the transformation, raw becoming realized.

Agri is the community, Arkansas's growers, makers, and the people they feed.
Connections is the bridge, the system that brings producers and consumers together so what's grown here is finally seen, valued, and connected.

This isn't a directory, and it isn't another marketplace shouting for attention. It's connective infrastructure for a local food system that deserves to work better than it does, built on transparency, rooted in Arkansas, and designed so that everyone in the chain, from the field to the table, can find each other and thrive.

Like the dye that gives it its name, the work is simple and a little bit remarkable: creating the conditions for transformation. Green into indigo. Potential into worth. A scattered community into a connected one.
